This Sunday – Joshua part 10 & G3 This Tuesday – don’t miss it

Joshua part 10 “The Long Day of Favour”

This Sunday we’ll be back in Joshua (only 4 more to go!) looking at the day the Sun stood still and the favour of God on his people and those associated with them.

G3 – this coming Tuesday 3rd May, 7.45pm at SLC

G3 is really important this month as we start our mini series on “WHY CHURCH?” looking at why, how and when the Church became a reality in the NT and what it means for us today. We’ll be exploring contemporary questions such as, did Paul and Jesus agree on Church? Which came first the NT teaching about church or early church practice? and What should the church look like today?

Easter Sunday – Luke 24 “Were not our hearts burning?”   Leave a comment

This Sunday we take an Emmaus Road view of Jesus and look at the kind of powerful passages he opened up from the Old Testament to Cleopas and the unknown disciple.

After all was said and done one question remained: Who is this? Who Can You Hear? They were in no doubt!

Keith Update

Great prayer meeting this morning, we can enjoy a lie-in for the next 2 Fridays!

Just to let you know that last Sunday I was preaching in Matlock with Church in the Peak led by Dave Harper and this Sunday I’ll be in Blackburn with Community Church Blackburn, led by Dave Wade (who will be speaking at Silklife in June). It was a great morning in Matlock and I heard you had a excellent morning here. Just to encourage you, there ARE OTHER vibrant Churches in the North West where people are coming to know Jesus for the first time, people are being healed and God centred worship is electric!

Even though it is only 2 Sundays, I’ve not been away this much for the nine years we’ve been in Macc and it means this is a slightly strange experience but doors seem to be opening and whereas before it would have been unhelpful for me to be away and so I would turn opportunities down, at the moment it feels like I can be released a bit more to serve other Churches in the region. Having said that, I expect to be around from Easter Sunday onwards for a good few months but wanted to let you know where I’ve been.

On another note, G3 in May (Tuesday 3rd May 7.45pm) will be the start of a series (just for G3 and then this blog) about the Church, called “Why Church?” I’d begun to have the idea, shared it with Nick and the leadership team this week and they agreed it would be a helpful theme to look at, answering questions like: What did Jesus think of the church? Did Paul think differently? How did the idea of “church” develop in the bible and in the early church? What is biblical church and how should the church be today? Community, worship, gifts of the Spirit will all come up along the way.

Please come on Sunday full of expectation and ready to worship, please pray that I’ll be a blessing to Blackburn and help them, see you Easter Sunday if not before!
